Learning Program Details

Program Descriptions:

The Building Trades and Construction Program is an 8 week training program that will provide a total of 144 hours of training to include:

  • 48 hours of career development time including a CareerSafe computer safety course through OSHA,
  • resume preparation,
  • job readiness, and interviewing skills training
  • 96 hours of paid work experience
In addition, each participants will contribute 24 hours of community services with Habitat for Humanity in conjunction with their motto of “giving back to the community.”

Who’s Eligible:

The program will serve 20 Fayette County Youth between 18-21 years old who meet WIA eligibility guidelines and express a desire to learn about the word of work.

Incentives of the Program:

  • Participants will earn $7.15 per hour for their 96 hours of paid work experience.
  • CareerSafe computer safety course will be paid for you.
  • Safety boots will be provided to each participant.
  • Start up tools and equipment such as safety goggles, gloves, hammer, ruler, tool belt, etc. will be furnished for each participant. Upon completion of all program aspects, you will get to keep the tools.
Steps for Enrollment:
  • Contact Goodwill Industries at (724) 437-9878 to receive a WIA eligibility application.
  • You must be registered in the PA Team CareerLink system.
  • If you are a male 18 years or older, you must be registered with Selective Services.
