Learning Opportunities Overview

Objective

Promote and implement community service projects for the benefit of Fayette County Residents and non-profit organizations through the Habitat for Humanity of Fayette County, PA's Community Revitalization and Education Program. Create more community interaction with Habitat for Humanity by providing opportunities for support and volunteering by agencies, non-profit organizations, local businesses and county residents to work together on community service projects helping low income and elderly residents.

Plan

Habitat for Humanity of Fayette County, PA's will review and get familiar with all community service opportunities to support, promote and/or implement all projects.

  • The Instructors will identify tasks in any or all areas so appropriate planning and training can be provided to volunteers and students.
  • An instructor/s will supervise, train and/or coordinate training for participants in any or all tasks involved with the process.
  • The instructor/s will develop and coordinate a schedule of activities with time tables and measurable goals for the team. The instructor/s will track and document progress.
  • Upon completion of projects, the instructor/s will prepare certificates for participants.
  • A participant could experience positive hospitality, public relations, strategic planning, communication as well as construction skills.
  • A participant must be a team player and follow direction from the instructor/s.
Impact

Enhance the employability and/or skills of a participant while coordinating community service activities in Fayette County. Provide a resource for agencies and individuals to access home repair services for residents in need that would not normally be able to get assistance through other resources or programs. Develop employment skills of students and participants in the construction profession.

  • Outreach Fayette County communities, organizations and individuals in need.
  • Provide additional resources to non-profit organizations and individuals that they would not have access to.
  • Create opportunities for Fayette County businesses, organizations and individuals to help the community through a partnership involving community service projects.
  • Attract businesses, organizations and individuals to become volunteers and support community service.
Team

  • New Meadow Run and Spring Valley Communities
  • GoodWill Industries
  • Fayette County Area Vocational-Technical School
  • Local & national organizations, businesses and individuals still to be identified
Supervision

Will be provided by Habitat for Humanity of Fayette County, PA staff, volunteers and board members.
